Allan Chow - Chapel Mural - AdventHealth Lenexa City Center - 2026
Hope on the HorizonFor two months, artist Allan Chow transformed eight individual canvases into a single sweeping vision of hope. Working on the floor of his studio, he painted each panel by hand with a palette knife, carefully blending bold strokes of turquoise, gold, violet, and crimson so that every canvas flowed seamlessly into the next. Inspired by a breathtaking sunset over the Flint Hills, the mural captures the quiet transition from day to evening, a reminder that even after life's darkest moments, light always returns. Installed in the chapel of the new AdventHealth healthcare facility in Lenexa, the eight-panel mural was created as a place of comfort, reflection, and healing. Patients, families, caregivers, and visitors are welcomed by an expansive horizon that symbolizes resilience, renewal, and peace. Just as the Flint Hills have endured for centuries, the glowing sunset offers a timeless message: every ending carries the promise of a new beginning, and hope is always on the horizon.
